At AllianzGI, we engage in an on-going, forward thinking dialogue with every client. Alongside an active approach to investment and active engagement with our clients, we are active stewards of the assets we own. As a sustainable investing pioneer, AllianzGI traces ESG credentials back nearly two decades.
Acting upon our fiduciary role as a responsible asset manager, we aim to incorporate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria throughout our entire investment value chain.
Given the diversity of investors’ objectives and requirements we provide tailored ESG and SRI processes with a broad range of approaches, adaptable to different levels of ESG incorporation and client preferences, enhancing our clients’ investment decisions whilst helping create benefits for society as a whole.
An increasing number of clients, prospects, consultants and NGOs are requiring transparency on our ESG policies and ESG approach, and want to see detailed information on how we incorporate ESG factors in our investment decision making. In addition to that, they require transparency on our results of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI) assessment, for peer group comparison purposes.
AllianzGI has been a signatory to the UN PRI since 2007 and for three years in a row (2017, 2018, 2019), we have received an A+ score in the PRI Association assessment report for its overarching approach to ESG Strategy and Governance. This category encompasses ESG policies, objectives, memberships and considers how the firm promotes ESG efforts internally and externally.
Overall, we achieved the highest possible ‘A+’ score for three categories in 2019:
In its individual annual assessment reports the PRI Association rates how signatories are progressing in incorporating ESG factors into investment decisions, and aims to provide feedback to signatories to support the ongoing development of their ESG credentials.
PRI is one of the most important and powerful global initiatives to promote responsible investing with more than 2,300 signatories representing approximately USD 86 trillion of assets.
The PRI assessment is not public. For more information on our ESG approach including our PRI Transparency Report 2019 can be found on our website.
